Pierro's Perspective

Tomorrow the greatest basketball player in the world will turn 50 years old. Known as MJ or even just Michael, Jordan redefined the game of basketball in the late 80s and throughout the 90s.

College Career

Michael Jordan attended the University of North Carolina to play for legendary coach Dean Smith. In 1981, he became just the fourth freshman to earn a starting role under coach Smith. The Tar Heels reached the NCAA championship that year, where Jordan began his legend by knocking down the game winning jumper to defeat Georgetown 63-62 and win the national title. Jordan was national player of the year for the 1983-1984 season. In 1984, Jordan left UNC for the NBA, but not before leading the United States to an 8-0 record and a gold medal in the 1984 Olympics.
